Hi, friends! As I mentioned in my first post, I’m from Illinois. In fact, I grew up just outside of the “Windy City.” Chicago winters can be brutally cold. The kind of cold where you can open the front door and take the cup of hot water in your hands and throw it to watch it become snow mid-air. That’s cold!
I thought moving to Florida would mean I could get away from dry skin altogether, but nope… that has not been the case for me. It might not be bitter cold here, but we do get snaps of cold weather, and the air is a lot less humid and a lot drier than normal. It’s totally okay though because I have my handy dandy Burt’s Bees dry skin survivor kit! That’s what I call it anyways. Hah! It consists of 4 little miracle products that I have grown to LOVE and can’t go a day without using this time of year. I’ll tell you a little bit about each below and why I’m obsessed and would definitely recommend you trying them out too!
The Honey Lip Balm is seriously goals! I can’t rave enough about this little guy. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had chapped lips. That’s how amazing this lip balm is!! First, the flavor is honey… who doesn’t like honey?! It’s not too sweet or anything though. In fact, it’s a very mild smell that you really won’t even notice (my husband will use this flavor because it’s not “super girly”). The balm is 100% natural and it’s infused with Vitamin E. When I apply this, I’m left with smooth, moisturized lips that feel and look nourished and healthy – not dry and cracked. Who doesn’t need a lip balm that softens AND conditions their lips? Especially this time of the year!
Like with the lip balm, I have zero complaints about the Almond & Milk Hand Cream. You guys, this cream is luxury at a drugstore price – like, for real… it comes in a glass jar. I’m applying some to my hands right now so that I can accurately describe the lusciousness that is this cream!! It’s a mousse consistency but thicker and not airy. It does have a sweet almond scent to it, but I wouldn’t say it’s overbearing at all. You can smell it though when you apply it. I feel like this product is a conditioner for your hands. Lol! Honestly though, it is incredibly silky smooth and nourishing on my skin (hands, elbows, knees, heels). It has a soothing spa-like feel to it. The way this product simply melts into your skin is addicting. It’s like Williams Sonoma’s hot cocoa… you just can’t get enough. This is my absolute favorite hand cream for the winter/dry months!
The Honey & Grapeseed Hand Cream wasn’t an instant favorite with me. The scent is quite fragrant – it has like a weird earthy smell that I’m not crazy about but I got used to. And when you apply it, the texture of the cream feels a bit strange actually. I find it to be really thin and not so cream-like (this might be your thing though, in which case this is right up your alley). However, these two critiques don’t stop the product from performing well in the end! When applied, your skin is left feeling soft and moisturized (a common theme here). Your skin will literally absorb the lotion, which is nice when you’re on the go and can’t be bothered trying to work with the product. I would definitely say this is more of a light moisturizer as opposed to a heavy-duty cream, so it’s more for general winter upkeep. I keep this in my purse all winter long!
Last, but certainly not least, is the Coconut Foot Cream. Ummmm… you need this in your life. Plain and simple as that. Seriously, RUN to your nearest Target, CVS, Walgreens, or Walmart!!!!
Now this stuff I use all year around because your girl likes to be barefoot or in flip flops 24/7. Hah! This product is heavenly. First off, the smell. I am not a coconut-scent fan, so I was weary to try this out initially, but I am oh so glad I did. It has a coconut/minty (peppermint) smell too it, so it’s not overpowered with coconut. What’s odd is that I don’t like coconut or peppermint scents (who even am I? So weird, I know), but the two scents work here somehow. I’m not mad about it. Lol! The texture of the product is oily but thick – if that makes any sense. I put it on at night before I go to bed and rub the product into my feet really well. You can feel the product working it’s magic. It’s sticky, so I put on socks! The next morning, your feet will be insanely soft – like cashmere soft. Hey, don’t look at me like that. You have to try it before saying anything. I promise, if you want soft, supple feet, you’ll get this and thank me the next morning!
What I love about Burt’s Bees is that I can trust their products. Not only do they work, but I don’t have to worry about my skin absorbing harmful chemicals. During the winter time and dry months, it’s so important to stay hydrated and take care of our skin. I feel better knowing that I can apply any of these products as many times as I want throughout the day and not think twice about it! Burt’s Bees can be found all over the place these days. From Target, CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart to Amazon and Burt’sBees.com. You can easily get your hands on any of these amazing products. Bonus: They’re affordable!!! “So let me get this straight… not only do these products work but they’re easy to get ahold of, have clean ingredients, and are affordable too???” Yup! You better “bee”-lieve this is a brand worth trying!
Leave me a comment below! Have you tried any of these products? What are your ride-or-die winter skin must-haves?
