With Spring upon us (less than a month away – crazy!), I figured it’s a good time to talk about the focus word my husband and I chose for 2020. I know I’m a little late on this, but I think it’s still a topic worth discussing. ☺️
Q: Have you chosen a focus word to help guide you in 2020?
Instead of having a list of New Year Resolutions, we like to commit to a focus word for the year. This takes off a lot of the initial pressure to make XYZ changes/ commitments in a short amount of time. When thinking about what you want your word for the year to be, you’ll want to choose a word to connect your goals to and that will help to provide you with a sense of direction. Our word for 2020 is Refreshed.
We’ve entered a new chapter in our marriage with the purchase of our first home this past December, in a brand new city, still new residents of Florida (coming from Illinois). Last year my husband took on a new position at his job and it was a major shift in our daily lives. I switched careers and have been trying to find the right opportunity for me, professionally. A lot happened in 2019 and we are so thankful because most of what came to fruition began as a prayer request to the Lord not all that long ago. Coming off of a very busy year led us to want to slow down a bit and be more present with the Lord. We want to focus on being refreshed by God.
In this new chapter of our lives, it is important that we begin by re-focusing. We want our alone time with the Lord to go deeper and our relationship with Him to be strengthened. We are praying to really experience more of Him and to know Him more fully. We want more of His peace and joy and overall spiritual refreshment in our lives. With this on our hearts and mind, we’re looking to Psalm 42:1 as a verse to focus on throughout the year as well. May we long for the Lord and for His presence in our lives!
