We recently celebrated our baby boy with a “Woodland” themed baby shower and it was just the cutest thing! We drove up from Florida to Illinois so that we could take Remi with us. It was his first road trip (and my husband’s) and I’m happy to report that they both did very well! Lol
When my mom had said that she would like to throw us a baby shower, I was actually really excited because it would give us the opportunity to see family and friends which, like most people, we haven’t had the chance to do in quite some time due to COVID. I knew right away that I wanted it to be outside at my parent’s house and for the theme to be Woodland because that’s what we’re planning for baby boy’s nursery and you know me, I wanted the shower to be cute (of course!) but also budget-friendly. I think we accomplished both! Also, this theme can be neutral, boy, or girl – it’s very versatile. ☺️
The inspiration for the shower came pretty easy thanks to Pinterest. Wow, there are so many cute and unique baby shower ideas for a Woodland theme! One thing that’s great about this theme is that it’s a bit rustic so things don’t have to be perfect, which is perfect. Lol I focused a lot on the dessert table because how can you not?! Dessert is the best. 😋 Ok so I’ll come back to the dessert table, but let’s talk about the welcome sign to start things off. My sister-in-law & brother-in-law gifted us this custom sign from Etsy and it was the perfect way to greet our guests! The next eye-catching piece was this adorable 5×7 backdrop from Amazon. The backdrop really set the tone for the shower because of how big of a statement piece it is. We thought it would be fun to do a balloon arch too for some added pizzaz at an affordable price! I definitely think the balloon arch is beautiful, but it will take at least two people (preferably 3) to make it happen – and buy an electric balloon filler upper like this one, trust me it’s worth it. Lol Above the gift area, we hung this cute sign to compliment the theme.
For the centerpieces, we kept it simple and rustic. My mom was so funny in that she collected a bag full of pinecones that were on the ground from the pine trees at her work! She then froze them for several days to make sure they were sterilized. 😂 Then my dad cut all the wood pieces from a tree that had fallen in their yard. 🪵 Haha My mom took some fake moss and hot glued it to the wood. Mom also has a ton of mason jars that she has collected over the years, so we added pinecones to them and little fake flower stems from the dollar store. And there you go, a VERY budget-friendly DIY project.
Now for the dessert table! Oh my goodness does Pinterest have sooo many cute ideas for this! It was so hard to narrow down the options. I went with earth-toned donuts from the favorite local donut shop (I have to have donuts at every event – it’s a must lol). 🍩 My sister-in-law made the chocolate covered “logs” and the “acorns” (nutter butters with a Hershey’s kiss – these were seriously so good). She also was so sweet and ordered the cutest little specialty cookies that had baby woodland animals! My cousin created the naked cake which turned out not only beautiful but also delicious! The cake topper I ordered from Etsy seems to be sold out, but here is the shop I ordered from in case it comes back in stock. Here is a similar woodland themed cake topper from another Etsy shop. She also baked the “bear paw” cookies – so precious! 🐾 For some added woodsy-ness we threw in some “sticks ‘n twigs” (mini pretzel sticks). We also added these cute dessert plates and napkins!
We played 3 games that I thought were fun and easy to put together! 1) Guess How Many Cookies 2) Pregnancy Candy Match 3) Baby Bingo. I highly suggest ordering these as a printable and then printing out what you need at UPS. This was fast and relatively inexpensive too, plus we didn’t have to use our computer ink. Lol And then for the thank you favor, we did these yummy gummy bears and put them in a little jar! Last but not least, these thank you cards were the finishing touch to our Woodland themed baby shower and they were too cute! 🍂
For us, our favorite part of the baby shower genuinely was seeing so many friends and family that we haven’t seen in so long. It just felt extra sweet to laugh, smile, take pictures, and have conversations all face to face! We feel so blessed and are grateful the Lord has gifted us with this baby boy and family and friends who love us and him! 🥰
Quick note on my outfit! I wore this comfy bodycon dress from Target and paired it with this lightweight floral cardigan kimono from Amazon. For shoes, I went with these nude block heels from Target. I switched to these cute sandals, also from Target, after the party. 😍
